E3 2021 Event Schedule [UPDATED]

With E3 2021 set to kick off next week, we've rounded up a selection of upcoming presentations, both from big-name publishers like Ubisoft, Microsoft and Nintendo, as well as events focused on games from smaller developers.

Just like last year, the summer will pass us by not with huge trade shows, but online presentations. Here's a breakdown of the events that will take place as part of (or during) the E3 2021. This year's edition will last from June 12 to 15, but it should be noted that some of the planned events are not formally associated with the fair organized by the Entertainment Software Association. As a result, the first shows will be hosted even before the start of E3 2021.

Upcoming events:

Battlefield 6 announcement

  1. June 9 (7 AM PT)

Although Electronic Arts is preparing its own conference on July 22, the publisher decided to go easy on the fans of the Battlefield series and reveal the next installment much earlier. On Wednesday, June 9 at 7 AM PT we will see Battlefield 6 (if that's the final title of the game) for the first time. No details were given, but we should expect a trailer to be shown, as well as the release date and other details about the new installment of the shooter series.

Summer Game Fest 2021 Kickoff Event

  • June 10 (11:00 AM PT)

Geoff Keighley returns with the second edition of Summer Game Fest, albeit with a slightly changed formula. Instead of long (too long in the opinion of many) weeks of individual shows, first we'll get one big presentation, followed by smaller conferences organized by the partners of the event. The opening ceremony (if you can call it that) will take place on Thursday, June 10 at 11 AM PT. It will feature "more than a dozen" game announcements and content from more than 30 publishers and studios, including Activision Blizzard, 2K Games, Epic Games, Sony, Microsoft, Saber Interactive and many, many more.

Netflix Geeked Week

  1. June 11 (9 AM PT)

Netflix is hardly the first brand to be associated with E3, and Geeked Week, which begins on June 4, will by no means be focused on video games. However, the showcase planned for Friday, June 11 will be hosted by Geoff Knightley himself. That's because the final day of the event will be devoted to productions based on video game licenses. This does not necessarily include the second season of The Witcher (although we'll definitely see it as part of the Geeked Weekend), but we do know that we will see at least the movie adaptation of the Resident Evil series. The broadcast will begin at 9 AM PT.

Netflix is a rather unexpected guest at this year's E3.

Koch Primetime

  1. June 11 (noon PT)

Koch Media will begin its presentation on Friday, June 11 at noon PT. We will watch the show on Twitch or the mysterious page made available by the publisher. For now, we have no clues as to the event's program, although a peculiar teaser with a much telling name "We know something you don't know" de facto confirms the presence of a bigger announcement. Unfortunately, Koch Media's Deep Silver has announcedthat we will not see Dead Island, Saints Row, Metro, nor Timetplitters. On the occasion, it was confirmed (again) that the new installment of Saints Row is in the pipeline.

IGN Expo

  1. June 11 (1 PM PT)

Just like last year, IGN's editorial team will be taking an active role in June's industry events. The website will also host its own IGN Expo broadcast (as part of Summer Game Fest), which will take place on June 11 at 1 PM PT. The presentation will include unannounced games, both on trailers and gameplay demonstrations.

The Guerilla Collective

  1. June 12 (8 AM PT; Wholesome Direct - 10:00 AM PT)

To the joy / worry (ignore as appropriate) of gamers, E3 2021 is more than big publishers and big-budget titles. It's also about indie game showcases like The Guerrilla Collective. This year the festival will start on June 5, when the first broadcast will take place. "First" because a group consisting of, among others, Humble Games, All-in! Games and tinyBuild Games will return to Twitch on June 12. Both broadcasts will be full of previews and trailers of numerous indies: the event page includes various games, among others: Ghostrunner and Chernobylite. On both days the broadcasts will begin at 8 AM PT.

Ubisoft Forward

  1. June 12 (noon PT)

Ubisoft will return with its own presentation next Saturday at noon PT. It's doubtful that this will be the only major attraction, but so far we don't have any definite information on that. We'd certainly welcome the return of Beyond Good & Evil 2, or the appearance of one of the French publisher's somewhat forgotten brands like Splinter Cell or Rayman.

Devolver's Annual Showcase Event

  1. June 12 (1:30 PM PT)

Devolver Digital will hold its own show on June 12 at 1:30 PM PT. Our guess is that during the broadcast we'll learn more about Shadow Warrior 3, the new installment of the action game series being developed by Polish studio Flying Wild Hog. Moreover, the existence of the next part of Hotline Miami was either confirmed or denied (depending on the interpretation). Upcoming games from Devolver Digital's catalogue also include western RPG Weird West, multiplayer survival action game SCUM and Nordic action RPG Eitr.

Gearbox Software presentation

  1. June 12 (2:00 PM PT)

Gearbox Software will also appear at E3 2021, although in this case we only know that we will watch the broadcast on June 12. Unfortunately, we have no idea what the developer is preparing for us, who, by the way, did not mention a word about the presentation. We know that a new installment of the Borderlands is being developed, but it's probably at a very early stage of work and therefore it's doubtful that the creators will decide to announce the game now. The studio is also working on an undisclosed project in collaboration with Take-Two Interactive, which will debut no later than March 2022 (vide the publisher's financial report ).

On a side note - while the ESA announcement originally mentioned a presentation from Take-Two, it now only mentions the company hosting a panel on "diversity, equality, and inclusion" on June 14. Perhaps we'll see the publisher's games as part of other streams, though there's still a chance that T2's titles will get their own show.

Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase

  1. June 13 (10 AM PT)

Sony may have dropped out of E3 again, but Microsoft will be there with its own conference, as always. True to its name, the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase is likely to include plenty of announcements of titles from Bethesda's stable. Starfield is rumored to be present, and some are hoping to see something related to the Fallout series or The Elder Scrolls VI. Besides, there is a chance that Obsidian Entertainment will show something more from Avowed. Who knows, maybe we'll finally learn the exact release date of Psychonauts 2? We'll find out on Sunday, June 13 at 10 AM PT during the broadcast on Twitch and YouTube.

The first E3 after Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda should be packed with announcements from the acquired publisher.

Square Enix Presents

  1. June 13 (12:15 PM)

Square Enix will also be present at E3 2021. The publisher's summer game presentation will take place June 13 at 12:15 PM PT. We also know that one of the highlights of the show will be the reveal of Eidos Montreal's next project, but we'll also see Babylon's Fall, Life is Strange: True Colors (and a refreshed collection of the series) and news heading into Marvel's Avengers. Square Enix Presents broadcast will be available on Twitch and YouTube.

PC Gaming Show and Future Games Show

  • June 13 (2:30 PM PT) /June 14 (4:00 PM PT)

In the topic of indie games (and not only) we can't forget about PC Gaming Show, which this year will be combined with Future Games Show. The organizers are preparing over 150 minutes of announcements and trailers (available on YouTube and Twitch). Last year we saw, among others, Borderlands 3 and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla as well as a handful of indies such as Valheim. Also this year we'll probably see a mix of big-budget titles and smaller productions. The shows will be held on June 13 at 2:30 AM PT (PC Gaming Show) and June 14 at 4 PM PT (Future Games Show).

LRG3 2021

  • June 14 (1:00 PM PT)

Publisher Limited Run Games - specializing in physical game releases - returns after one year with its own broadcast. This year's edition of LRG3 will be available to watch on June 14 at 1:00 PM PT. The show will feature 25 game previews, but also new boxed editions of iconic games or various "re-editions" of classic titles.

Capcom Presentation

  1. June 14 (2:30 PM PT)

An official ESA announcement confirmed Capcom's presentation on the penultimate day of the E3 2021. The Japanese publisher will most likelt show off new materials from the next installments of the Monster Hunter series, and perhaps also Resident Evil: Outrage will appear. There are also rumors circulating on the web about starting work on a sequel to Dragon's Dogma.

Bandai Namco Presentation

  1. June 15

The last day of the E3 2021 will bring a presentation of games from the Bandai Namco catalog. Most likely this will include the seventeenth installment of the jRPG series Tales of, but souslike fans are also hoping that we'll finally see something more from FromSoftware's new project - Elden Ring. Perhaps the broadcast will include footage from House of Ashes, the third story in The Dark Pictures Anthology from Supermassive Games.

Nintendo Direct

  1. June 15 (9 AM PT)

Barring the announcement of Splatoon 3 (and perhaps some new DLCs for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), Nintendo's last big presentation wasn't overly exciting. Perhaps more surprises and reasons to be euphoric will give us the company's show scheduled for June 15 at 9 AM PT. It will include not only "nearly 40 minutes" of information on titles for the Switch, but also additional 3 hours of game footage as part of Treehouse Live. Of course, fans already have a lot of speculation about what we will see this time. It seems almost certain that the next fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed, as will the presentation of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, although - as usual - there is no shortage of people who believe in the appearance of Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, Breath of the Wild 2, etc. during Nintendo Direct. You can watch the presentation on YouTube and Twitch

Who will join the Super Smash Bros. series this time? Crash Bandicoot? Geralt? Master Chief?

E3 2021 Game Awards

  1. June 15

E3 2021 will culminate with the official awards ceremony. Editors from IGN, Gamespot and other leading industry websites will select the most anticipated games from the titles shown at the event. They will also highlight the productions of various publishers and developers taking part in this year's E3.

Partners

Aside from those hosting their own presentations (including Razer, GameSpot, Freedom Games, and Yooreka Games), the ESA has confirmed appearances of Warner Bros. Games, Take-Two Interactive and a number of large and small development studios. It is therefore possible that the fair will bring with it demonstrations of games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Gotham Knights, Homeworld 3, Back 4 Blood and Naraka: Bladepoint, as well as many surprises. Let's remind that this year access to the broadcast of the event will be completely free, contrary to rumors making rounds on the web for some time. The full schedule of E3 2021 can be found on the official website of the fair.
