Dune: Spice Wars Now With House Corrino; Emperor Joins Battle for Arrakis
Strategy game Dune: Spice Wars has received an update, introducing the fifth playable faction to the game in the form of House Corrino, from which the Emperor is descended.
Shiro Games has released another update to the early access strategy game Dune: Spice Wars. The biggest highlight of the patch is the addition of a new faction to the game in the form of House Corrino, led by Emperor Shaddam IV.
- The faction has unique units, including elite Sardaukars and troops equipped with flame throwers.
- The faction also has four advisors. They include the Emperor's daughters (Princess Irulan and Wensicia Corrino), Captain Aramsham (a Sardaukar officer) and the mentat assassin Hasimir Fenring.
- House Corrino receives spice in the form of a tax or bribe from most of the factions on the planet Arrakis, but must also pay the Space Guild to keep its star fleet functioning.
- The patch also improves the diplomacy system, AI and interface, as well as fixes many bugs and imperfections.
House Corrino is the fifth playable faction in the game. In addition, in Dune: Spice Wars we can play as Houses Atreides and Harkonnen, the Freemen and the Smugglers.
Recall that Dune: Spice Wars debuted in early access in April this year. The game is available exclusively on PC. Version 1.0 is expected to be released in 2023.
The game is quite a success. It was the biggest bestseller on Steam in the week of its release. It also met with a warm reception - 81% of player reviews praised Dune: Spice Wars, which is categorized as a "very positive" reception.
