Dragon Age 4 in Spring 2022 at the Earliest
It looks like the RPG Dragon Age 4 will not launch before April 2022 at the earliest. This is indicated by the fact that so far EA rarely talks about the title and the developers working on it.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Dragon Age 4 will probably not be released before April 2022 - this is indicated by the fact that EA is not talking about this game and BioWare in general for now;
- EA's CFO indicated in 2019 that the game would likely release after fiscal year 2022 (that is, period from early April 2021 to late March 2022).
Editors at TweakTown suggest - pointing to a recent conference call with Electronic Arts investors - that the RPG Dragon Age 4 will most likely be released in fiscal year 2023 at the earliest, meaning between April 2022 and March 2023. This is indicated by the fact that some words were not said at all during the conversation. BioWare's name appeared only once in the conversation, while the Dragon Age and Mass Effect brands were not mentioned at all.
"We've talked about a college football game, we've talked about a skate game, we've talked about a new game from Motive, we talked about new game - Apex. We've talked about a number of new FIFA titles from our mobile group and new mobile titles in Asia.
"I would tell you that we still feel really good and really strong about all of those, and that they are that are tracking as we believe they would, including a new title coming out of BioWare. So nothing new to give you beyond that other than we still feel very confident in our outgoing or out-year portfolio. And we also have some other things that we are kind of incubating that we think will further add to them in the year to come," Wilson said recently.
TweakTown's conclusions are in line with previous statements made by EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen - who suggested in 2019 that Dragon Age 4 is likely to be a project released after fiscal year 2022.
"Dragon Age is out there, we've talked about it publicly, it probably comes after Fiscal 2022. You should assume it's out there and plans are under way for that product," Jorgensen said at the time.
It is worth recalling that - as reported by journalist Jason Schreier a few years ago - the development of Dragon Age 4 has been suspended or rebooted several times. For some time EA planned to make this title into a live-service game, but the failure of Anthem ultimately buried that concept. The current version of the game is being developed as a single player title.
