Dragon Age 4 Concept Arts From Artbook Hint at Setting
Last year, BioWare released an art book summarizing 25 years of the company's existence. It contained concept arts suggesting the setting of Dragon Age 4. They imply that the game will take us to lands we haven't seen before.
We still don't know much about Dragon Age 4. The latest official information about the game appeared in early January, when a concept art showing an archer was presented. As it turns out, additional clues about the title can be found in the book BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development summarizing the history of the studio. It contains a number of artworks which may suggest the setting of the latest installment of the series. They show that during the adventure we'll find ourselves in Tevinter and other locations which have not been shown so far (via Eurogamer).
While Tevinter doesn't come as a surprise to fans of the series (information on the subject was included in the conclusion of the Trespasser expansion in Dragon Age: Inquisition), the other locations are new. The drawings show, among other things, a city surrounded by water, which may evoke associations with Antiva, the capital of the country of the same name, which neighbours the aforementioned empire.
Another art presented in the book shows the Lone Warden, guarding a necropolis. Locations of this type are characteristic of Nevarra, where the inhabitants do not burn the dead but mummify them. This country, like Antiva, borders with Tevinter.
On the pages of the book there is also a place for arts depicting organizations that may appear in the game. They suggest that during the adventure we will come across members of the Antivan Crows, an elite organization of assassins, and the guild of Rivan treasure hunters, The Lords of Fortune.
Keep in mind that these are concept arts and not all the elements they contain will necessarily make it to the final version of Dragon Age 4. However, we can see what visions the developers had for the game over the years.
