DOTA Will Get a Netflix Show
Netflix and Valve have announced DOTA: Dragon's Blood, an animated fantasy series based on the popular MOBA game.
Netflix is investing more and more aggressively in video game adaptations. The latest project announced is an animated series DOTA: Dragon's Blood, based on one of the most popular MOBA brands.
The producers boast that Valve actively participated in the works. What's interesting, we won't have to wait long for the premiere. DOTA: Dragon's Blood will debut on March 25, this year. We don't know how many episodes the first season will consist of.
The project's reveal was accompanied by the first trailer. It's good to see a classic 2D production once in a while. In the case of the recent Dragon's Dogma, another Netflix series based on a video game, the viewers had to suffer with ugly 3D character models, which were merely made to look like animation.
DOTA: Dragon's Blood is just the latest of many animated video game adaptations by Netflix. The service offers three seasons of Castlevania, Ingress, and the aforementioned Dragon's Dogma. Further plans include adaptations of such brands as Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Cuphead and Cyberpunk. There will also be live-action series based on the Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil series.
It's worth adding at the end that Dota is not the only big MOBA brand, which will get an animated adaptation. Riot Games is working on an original animate series Arcane, set in the universe of League of Legends.
