Doom Eternal Expected Playthrough Time Revealed
id Software revealed how long it will take us to complete its latest work, Doom Eternal. As it turns out, we are dealing with a title much larger than the 2016 Doom and previous installments of the series, which means we will spend long hours in Doom Slayer's skin.
Just over three months before the release of Doom Eternal, we learned the estimated length of the game. At this year's QuakeCon, Marty Stratton from id Software stated that their latest game is "much larger" than 2016 Doom. It will take between eighteen and twenty-two hours to complete the game, assuming the players are going to take a detour here and there.
On the other hand, nothing will prevent us from not bothering ourselves with secrets and simply rushing ahead with a battle cry on our lips; in such a case, we will see the credits after twelve to thirteen hours. Another thing is that according to Stratton, it might as well take someone more than thirty hours to get through Doom Eternal.
It must be said that it all sounds good, especially considering the fact that the aforementioned Doom from 2016 was not the shortest game in the team. Furthermore, shooting at demons was so pleasant in that title, that after finishing it one wanted to grab the gun again, for example at a higher level of difficulty. It is worth mentioning separately that apart from the story campaign in Doom Eternal, the creators will provide us with an interesting Battlemode option (where one person will play the part of Doom Slayer, and two others - demons trying to defeat their oppressor), accompanied by so-called invasions (allowing us to enter the skin of a hellspawn and make life difficult for other players in their story campaigns), which should extend the time we spend with this title.
And how do these values compare to the previous parts of the series? According to HowLongToBeat, the average time it takes to complete the 2016 Doom is about sixteen hours; the same amount of time was needed to complete a Doom 3: BFG Edition. Doom II: Hell on Earth may take almost ten hours, while the good old Doom from 1993 - about five and a half hours.
Doom Eternal is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Stadia platform from Google. The game will debut on November 22, this year.
