Division Day - Future of Ubisoft's Series Revealed [UPDATE]
Ubisoft's Division Day conference is behind us. The publisher shared information on in-development and new productions from The Division universe.
Update:
In an interview for MP1st, Yannick Banchereau, the creative director working on The Division 2, was asked about a possible version of the game for current-gen consoles (PS5 and XSX/S). He replied that:
"It is unlikely [...]. Using their [new consoles' - ed.] full potential would involve abandoning the development of the game on the previous generation."
It is worth remembering that The Division 2 can be played on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as part of backward compatibility.
Original news:
Ubisoft has shared new information about The Division. During a special conference called The Division Day fans of the online shooter heard about changes, new content and upcoming games in the series.
Fifth year of The Division 2
Fifth year in The Division 2 will kick off with a season titled Broken Wings. As part of it, the following will be added to the game:
- a new raid, in which the goal will be to liberate civilians from the hands of opposition;
- the task of rebuilding the base, in which the freed hostages will help;
- a brand new gameplay mode called Descentwhich is a roguelike 4-player module that resets stats and progress earned in the main game.
The next months of the game's fifth year of development will bring more seasons, content and attractions for players. Among the new features announced is a story DLC that will introduce new raids and missions to the game and revamp the endgame structure.
The Descent mode is already available on the game's test servers and can be checked out by all owners of the game. Most of the remaining seasonal content will require the purchase of the Warlords of New York DLC.
Wanting to encourage new players to play, Ubisoft has prepared a special offer. In the publisher's official store The Division 2 is available at a significant discount, also bundled with the Warlords of New York DLC. The offer is valid until April 27.
The Division Heartland
The Division Heartland was first made public in 2021. The free-to-play game, announced some time ago, lived to see a new cinematic trailer during Division Day, showing the provincial American town of Silver Creek - the game's setting. The trailer also outlined the story background of the new title from The Division universe.
The free game will go into closed beta later this year, and those eager to participate can register now on the game's website.
The Division Resurgence
The last title mentioned on the occasion of Division Day was The Division Resurgence, which is a game developed for mobile devices. The game is to be a story bridge between the first two installments of the series and will offer gameplay similar to them in a new mobile form.
Testing of the game is scheduled for this summer, and those wishing to participate can register on the game's website.
What else?
In addition to information related to The Division games, Ubisoft also mentioned a web comic related to the universe, planned for 2024, as well as a rewards program for players involved in several different The Division games.
