Disco Elysium is Now Dyslexic-friendly
Disco Elysium has received an update introducing facilities for players with dyslexia.
Studio ZA/UM has decided to help fans of Disco Elysium, who suffer from dyslexia.
- The team has released a new patch for the game, which introduces additional fonts to make it easier for dyslexics to read texts.
- The OpenDyslexic font has been implemented for latin alphabets. It can also be used by users playing in English, French, German, Polish, Spanish and Portuguese.
- The Nanum Square Round font, on the other hand, was used in Korean, and Adys in Russian. Currently, the developers are looking for suitable solutions of this type for the Chinese language version.
- The fonts were chosen after consultation with researchers and translators.
In this game, such changes are extremely useful for people with dyslexia, as Disco Elysium contains a lot of text. The game's script contains more than a million words.
The game debuted on PC in October 2019. In turn, on March 30, 2021, it was released on PlayStation 4 and PS5 in an expanded and improved version subtitled The Final Cut. Its content was made available to PC players for free in the form of an update.
This expanded edition later hit Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the PC version of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has been discounted by 65% as part of the Steam Summer Sale. The offer will remain valid until July 7.
