Diablo 4 Won't be Pay-to-win, Says Rod Fergusson and Announces Something Cool [UPDATE]

One of the developers of the Diablo series has shared new information related to the highly anticipated game. The developer mentions lore, the druid class and monetization.

Update

Rod Fergusson's announcement found coverage in reality. The material he announced for fans of Diablo lore is the first episode of the animated series Book of Lorath - Episode 1: Creation. You can watch it below.

Original message

Rod Fergusson, brand manager of Diablo, shared on Twitter a handful of information related to Diablo IV. Fans of the Sanctuary lore are in for quite a treat.

Announcement of new material

According to the information provided by the developer, tomorrow a new promotional material from the game will be released. The producer clearly suggests that the upcoming material will contain new information about Sanctuary. Let's hope it will appeal to players and skillfully develop the Diablo lore.

Changes in loot and pay-to-win

In addition to announcing new material, Fergusson engaged in a discussion with fans in the comments section.

One of them drew the developer's attention to, in his opinion, too low frequency of legendary items drops after killing goblin treasurers. The developer reassured the player, assuring him that this rate will be modified:

"Yes, we are aware of this and have already implemented a pre-release fix."

Another user asked Fergusson for a candid comment on microtransactions and an opinion on the druid class. Blizzard Entertainment's rep answered the questions of a concerned fan:

"Diablo 4 will not be pay-to-win. I played Druid and it was great - especially the lightning storm [build - ed. note], but don't forget that you couldn't get into boons [mechanic - ed. note], so in the beta you lose an important part of Druid progression."

The game's release (scheduled for June 6; early access will start on June 2) and the first days after launch will show whether Rod Fergusson's reassuring words turned out to be backed in real life.
