Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Announced; First Major Expansion
Blizzard has officially announced Vessel of Hatred - the first major expansion for Diablo 4. However, we will have to wait a long time for it.
During the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2023 , the devsofficially announced the first major expansion for Diablo IV, about which rumors emerged online last week.
- The expansion is titled Vessel of Hatred.
- It is scheduled to be released in late 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.
- The DLC will introduce a sixth character class to Diablo IV, new to the entire series.
- The expansion will take us to the area around the city of Kurast, specifically a region called Nahantu, and will offer "new ways of gameplay."
- The plot is expected to deal with the fate of Mephisto after the events of the base game
Thus, in principle, most of the rumors I mentioned at the beginning were confirmed. However, Blizzard did not reveal enough information to be able to verify all the reports, including those regarding the mercenary system. Nonetheless, given the accuracy of this leak, it seems that something may be afoot.
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred won't be released for quite a while. Fortunately, Blizzard briefly zoomed in on the novelties that players can expect in the meantime.
- First, we're in for the first seasonal event - Midwinter Blight. It will begin on December 12, will last three weeks and will offer "traversing the snow-covered, winter-slaved Shattered Peaks to look for the mysterious Horror in Scarlet."
- January 23, meanwhile, will mark the start of the third season of online play in Diablo IV, which will bring the eagerly awaited leaderboards. They will be linked to new weekly dungeon challenges called The Gauntlet. Players will compete in them within a single character class.
It is also worth mentioning that next week Diablo IV will get five unique rings - one for each class - which will allow for the use of powers from the Season of Malignant, which ended on October 17. What's more, on December 5, the ability to preview items enchanted at occultist shops will be added. On the same day, the six-week endgame event Abattoir of Zir will begin, designed for seasonal characters at experience level 100.
