Diablo 4's Item Description Resonated with a Person Struggling with Depression; Blizzard Weighs In
An item description in Diablo 4 has triggered a wave of positive comments. The game's senior task designer commented the situation.
Do you think Diablo 4 is only about slaughtering monsters? If so, you're absolutely right, but even in such a dark game you can find a very positive message, although this time it was contained in the description of one of the items. Players do not hide their satisfaction, and even a Blizzard employee addressed the issue.
An important message in Diablo 4
On a subreddit dedicated to Diablo 4 one user bragged about an amulet, but it was not about its stats, but the description of the item itself, which alluded to struggling with internal problems.
"Healing is a journey. A series of steps. Some days you may stumble, but as long as you continue to put one foot in front of the other, you will reach your destination."
The user who posted the screenshot said that he is struggling with severe depression, and this description improved his mood. He also wrote in the comments that he obtained the item by completing a certain quest. After reading the inscription, he felt hopeful that things would get better in the future. In the aforementioned thread, a large group of users began to show support for each other and share their experiences of depression and recovery.
The description of the amulet was commented on by a senior task designer in Diablo 4 on his profile on Twitter, who wrote:
It's nice to read such a positive response from gamers. Depression is a very serious illness. It is very possible that there is someone around you who is struggling with it, but you don't even know it. If you have such a suspicion, then simply talk to such a person, show interest, warmth and support, because sometimes that's enough to make somebody feel that it's worth "putting one foot in front of the other" once again.
