Blizzard Alert; Diablo 4 Devs Respond to Criticism of Latest Changes
Update 1.1.0 for Diablo IV has failed to win praise among the players. In response to a wave of criticism, Blizzard will hold a broadcast to address the unfortunate changes.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that tomorrow (i.e., July 21) there will be a special broadcast during which leading figures from the team responsible for Diablo IV will address the first season of the game's gameplay and the latest major update.
The broadcast of the event will be available on the official channels of Diablo on YouTube and Twitch. The stream will begin at 8 p.m. CET / 11 a.m. PST.
And although Blizzard stressed that the conversation will be mainly about the first season of Diablo IV, there is no doubt that it is the latest update that will be the highlight of the show.
Recall that the patch bearing the number 1.1.0 introduced a whole bunch of changes to the game, including in the character balance. The problem, however, is that instead of making weaker heroes more powerful, Blizzard weakened them even further. Exasperated by this state of affairs, players gave vent to their anger online. Some of them even began to wonder about the sense of participating in the first season of online play in Diablo IV.
What about powerful builds?
That said, there is a spoonful of ointment in this barreel of flies, related to powerful builds which have recently been breaking popularity records online. Although Blizzard does not intend to let the most creative ones off the hook, it also does not want to "muzzle" players for this type of solution..
"We intend to continue to test them [powerful configurations - ed. note], but part of the development of Diablo IV - from the very early days - is that we want to be comfortable with the knowledge that there are a lot of crazy combinations that will be possible in the toolkit offered to players.
Related to this is the potential for there to be builds that simply contain one or two bugs, especially with some powers where something that should be limited is not. We are finding these things because we have changed some of our testing systems and content creation strategies," explained Diablo IV director Joe Piepiora in an interview with PCGamesN.
