With Diablo 4 Launch Diablo 3 Will Stop Getting New Content
The next, 29th season of Diablo III is expected to be the last to introduce new content to the game. Blizzard wants to focus on developing the new installment after the release of Diablo IV.
Currently, fans of the Diablo series are most interested in the upcoming fourth installment, especially since just two weeks ago the open beta tests have concluded, in which anyone could participate for free - so the hype has been significantly stoked. However, there are certainly those who still pass the time with 2012's Diablo III. For these people, unfortunately, there are some bad news - soon Blizzard will finish adding new content to the game.
Season 29 will become the last to add a new seasonal theme to D3. At the same time, it will not be "as rich as season 28". However, Blizzard does not intend to completely abandon the game. Subsequent seasons will be released, but they are to be repeats of what we already know, starting with season 30 Diablo III players will get a mix of old cosmetic elements and other content. All this was announced during a group interview by Rod Fergusson, who oversees the development of the Diablo series (via Wowhead).
February 24 marked the start of season 28 in Diablo III, whose theme is Rites of Sanctuary. It introduced, among other things, a powerful Altar of Rites, where material offerings can be made in exchange for "unspeakable power" (26 types of seals and three legendary potion powers), as well as new-age cosmetic items (Taennin the Tiny pet, Primal Hunter portrait) and other rewards for seasonal progress.
As you can easily guess, Blizzard will not be creating new content for Diablo III, as it prefers to focus on the development of the new installment, which will be released on June 6 - which Fergusson also admitted. The interview in question, however, did not touch on the topic of Diablo II: Resurrected and what future updates will look like in this case. Currently, the game is seeing its third ranked season.
