Destiny 2 Players Will Receive $45 in In-game Currency as Compensation for Accidental Bans
Bungie has apologized to players who got accidentally banned in the MMO action game Destiny 2. As compensation, the developers will stuff their pockets with virtual currency.
Cheating is a scrouge in multiplayer games. Of course, developers are constantly working to detect and remove cheaters, but their efforts do not always bring the desired effect. Sometimes innocent players become the victims of this war.
A group of Destiny 2 fans found out about this the hard way, when the developers of the popular looter shooter acidentally banned them.
Editor of The Verge, Tom Warren (via Kotaku), revealed that Bungie's representatives recently contacted players to inform them of the studio's mistake. In addition the developers offered compensation of 5,000 silver pieces to the affected Destiny 2 players, an equivalent of around $45 to spend in the game's store..
In an interview with Kotaku, the developers of Destiny 2 assured that they have updated the game's anti-cheat system. And while some players seem satisfied with Bungie's action, there are also some critical comments referring to the company's chaos and slow process of responding to appeals.
The negative opinion of Internet users is certainly not improved by the fact that this is not the first time that Bungie has accidentally banned innocent players. Similar cases have already occurred in 2017 and 2022.
