Destiny 2's Controversial DLC Dungeon Sales Model Misleads Players
A drama has exploded in the Destiny 2 community. Players feel cheated by the distribution model of the game's two new dungeons due to misinformation on Bungie's part.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Previously promised by Bungie, two new dungeons in Destiny 2 will only be available as a higher-priced edition of the new DLC or as a separate purchase;
- The main reason for the confusion is not the extra content fee, but the poor communication with players.
A storm has broken out over the content of Destiny 2's upcoming seasons, with Bungie announcing in August that starting in December, players will get their hands on at least one dungeon or raid every three months. Also announced at the time were two new dungeons, which the players initially thought would be added during the fifth year of support as additional content in one of the seasons. However, it turned out that the developers had other plans for the content.
They have announced that if players want to access the upcoming dungeons, they will have to purchase the Digital Deluxe edituon, twice as expensive as the basic one, of the The Witch Queen DLC, which will launch in February. At this point, confusion erupted among the title's audience, as fans were expecting to get access to new dungeons by owning the season pass. The studio also announced that it would be possible to get the content separately, but it was not explained how or when.
Bungie's community manager, Cozmo23, cleared up some of the doubts in a comment under a post on Reddit. He confirmed that the dungeons will be included in the Digital Deluxe edition of the said expansion, which also includes all of the following year's seasons and two dungeons. It will also be possible to both upgrade the standard version to the Deluxe edition as well as make a separate purchase at a later date. Unfortunately, he also announced that future content of this type will also not be available in the season passes, but as a separate purchase option.
