Despite Controversy, ARK Remake Sells Very Well
Wildcard boasted impressive sales results for ARK: Survival Ascended, the remake of the popular 2017 game.
A few weeks ago, ARK: Survival Ascended, a remake of a game from 2017, now powered by Unreal Engine 5, launched in Steam Early Access. The project turned out to be very controversial - its quality leaves a lot to be desired, and on top of that players are annoyed by the fact that the developers have closed the official servers of the original. However, it turns out that all this did not prevent the game from achieving commercial success.
- The developers boasted that in the first two weeks after release, sales of ARK: Survival Ascended exceeded 600,000 copies.
- This result was achieved despite harsh criticism from the gamers. On Steam only 56% of reviews of the game are positive, which is categorized as a "mixed" reception.
- However, it should be added that the game's rating is slowly improving. Shortly after the release, the percentage of positive reviews on Steam was only 43%
- Players are complaining about ARK: Survival Ascended, but they grit their teeth and keep playing. Indeed, yesterday's activity record on Steam was 53,891 people.
- It is worth noting, however, that the ton of players did not switch to the remake. In the case of ARK: Survival Evolved the developers turned off the official servers, but the possibility to put up your own was left. This enables the users to continue playing and yesterday's activity record of the original amounted to 46,735 concurrent users.
