David Prowse, Actor Playing Darth Vader, Passess Away

At the age of 85, British actor David Prowse, known above all for the Star Wars series and his iconic role of Darth Vader, one of the most recognizable antagonists in the history of cinematography, has passed away.

Very sad news is reported by Hollywood Reporter - David Prowse passed away. The well-known English actor has passed away at a dignified age of 85, as reported by the deceased star's agent via Twitter.

Prowse became recognizable mainly thanks to the memorable role of Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. Although he lent the character only his body, not his voice (James Earl Jones was responsible for Vader's iconic sound), but his appearance on the screen always aroused respect and horror. The characteristic way of moving and almost 2 meters of height have done their job.

It is also worth mentioning some interesting moments of the actor's career. In his filmography it is worth mentioning the memorable episode in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, in which he played Julian, the muscular bodyguard of Frank Alexander, one of the main character's victims.

Prowse's appearance also enabled him to play the Frankenstein's monster several times, including The Horror of Frankenstein from 1970, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell from 1974 and, here's a big one, in Casino Royale from 1967 (yes, the classic Bond movie with Peter Sellers).

After Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - the actor did not take much roles - he limited himself to guest appearances in documentaries or roles in little-known British productions. Nevertheless, he will be remembered for adding a few bricks to the great space fantasy universe that is undoubtedly Star Wars.

Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
