Dark and Beautiful Metroidvania with 97% Positive Steam Reviews Set for a 2025 Launch. Full Version of Ender Magnolia With Release Date
The dark Metroidvania Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is making us wait a little longer than expected, but will be a really long game. A new trailer brings the highly anticipated release date.
On the night of September 9-10, the Japanese company Binary Haze Interactive released a new game trailer on YouTube for Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist (below). It showcases several new locations, characters, and enemies, but most importantly, it reveals the release date of the full version of this dark Metroidvania. The game will be released on January 23, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is currently available on Steam Early Access, where it was released on March 25, 2024. The developers – Japanese studio Live Wire – suggested at the time that early access would end in 2024, but they clearly need a little more time to refine the game. However, it's easy to excuse them for this slight delay, especially considering that the 10 months (minus two days) that the title's development will ultimately take is still relatively short.
On the flip side, the developer's track record is promising, given that their previous game, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, spent only 5 months in Steam Early Access (from January 21, 2021 to June 21, 2021). Furthermore, Ender Magnolia didn't receive any new content during its development, only a small patch to address minor issues. The content that is available from the game's release, provides around 3-5 hours of fun and leaves a significant sense of dissatisfaction. Fortunately, the full version will be quite lengthy – the developers have stated that it will take about 35 hours. (For comparison: it takes an average of 21 hours to discover all the secrets of Ender Lilies).
Nonetheless, this "trimming" didn't prevent the title from achieving great success. Almost 97% of the nearly 3900 reviews on Steam are positive. Their percentage is even higher than in the case of the first installment, with 94% from nearly 34,000 opinions. The devs are also active on X, expressing gratitude to every industry website that dares to write an article sharing their impressions after playing the early access version of Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist.
It seems likely that we will receive an outstanding game in the first month of 2025, which will provide some relief to those eagerly awaiting Hollow Knight: Silksong. So we are left to wait for the premiere and the reveal of the console version prices. On Steam Ender Magnolia costs $19.99 and hasn't been on any sale yet. A price increase isn't ruled out and will likely change after the release of version 1.0.
