Cyberpunk 2077 Not Coming to Xbox Game Pass, at Least Not on Launch
CD Projekt RED has dispelled all doubts, confirming that there are no plans to make Cyberpunk 2077 available as part of the Xbox Game Pass service.
CD Projekt RED informed that there are no plans to make Cyberpunk 2077 available in the Xbox Game Pass service. This was done in response to a tweet from Venture Beat journalist Jeff Grubb, who suggested that it would make more sense for Microsoft to get such a game for its service than trying to buy it exclusively for one console.
The representative's statement is structured in such a way that it doesn't rule out that CP2077 will eventually come to Xbox Game Pass in the future, but if it does, it's only some time after the game's release. It's hard to be surprisied by such a decision of the developers, because Cyberpunk 2077 promises to be one of the biggest bestsellers of the year.
The quick reaction of the studio to journalist's twitter thoughts may seem exaggerated, but in this case it is not surprising. In May this year, the Portuguese branch of Microsoft erroneously reported that CP2077 will be available from the day of its launch in the Xbox Game Pass subscription. The entry was quickly deleted, but it caused a lot of confusion. No wonder that now CD Projekt RED prefers to play it safe to avoid a repetition of this situation.
Remember that the Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and PS5. The release is scheduled for November 19 this year, simultaneously on all hardware platforms.
