Cyberpunk 2077 at RPG Pace, Claim Journalists in 16-hour Hands-on Q&A

Youtuber Alanah Pearce talked to Tom Marx and Phil Hornshaw, two journalists who recently played 16 hours of Cyberpunk 2077. The conversation brought some interesting topics.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. IGN and GameSpot journalists Tom Marks and Phil Hornshaw, who had the opportunity to spend 16 hours with Cyberpunk 2077, answered some questions about the game;
  2. The conversation included topics such as melee combat, the story, Night City and Johnny Silverhand;
  3. The character played by Keanu Reeves does not appear until the sixth hour of the game;
  4. Interestingly, according to Tom Marx, the actor, although he plays his role well, is worse than others;
  5. Both journalists spoke well of the characters and the plot - the latter is supposed to be very mature;
  6. Youtuber's interlocutors also liked the world, which compares well with other productions available on the market.

Youtuber Alanah Pearce (the same one who recently announced that she joined Sony Santa Monica) interviewed two journalists who had the opportunity to play a bit longer in Cyberpunk 2077 - Tom Marx from IGN and Phil Hornshaw from GameSpot. They elaborated on a few of the topics they had raised in their announcements, and mentioned a few new issues.

Cyberpunk 2077 - game pace and Johnny Silverhand

One of the issues commented on was the pace of the game. Both journalists mentioned that Johnny Silverhand did not appear until about six hours into the game.

Johnny Silverhand.

IGN's journalist also described how Silverhand interacts with the player's character and the world, appreciating how this has been integrated into the dialogue system.

Interestingly, IGN's journalist also admitted that... Keanu Reeves is not a great voice actor. He's not bad, but he stands out from the rest of characters in the game.

More about combat, main storyline and the game's maturity

One of the topics raised was the combat. Both journalists admitted that it is not the best part of the game.

The strong point of CP2077 is also said to be the characters.

Tom Marx said that one of his favorite things in the game was the main plot (the other was Night City, and the fact that he chose these two is a very good predictor).

Phil Hernshaw emphasized that Cyberpunk 2077 is a really mature game - it's full of heavy, dark themes (Tom Marx said that it's probably the most "adult" game he's ever played).

Night City - number of people and overall impressions

Playing CP2077, Phil Hornshaw had the feeling that he was moving around a real city and that it did not seem empty or depopulated.

Tom Marks, on the other hand, compared the world of Cyberpunk 2077 to that of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, admitting that CD Projekt RED is on a completely different level.
