Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S Delayed
CD Projekt has announced an update on the plans for Cyberpunk2077 and The Witcher 3. Both games will be released on next-gen consoles next year.
- CD Projekt has released a report talking about an update on the release plans;
- We learn from it that the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be released in the first quarter of 2022;
- In turn, for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 will have to wait until the second quarter of 2022.
Today we finally got some specifics about the further publishing plans of CD Projekt and CD Projekt RED. A statement was published on the official website, from which we can learn that both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as Cyberpunk 2077 will have to wait until next year for their next-gen versions. Thus the developers' announcements from a few months ago did not come true.
"CD PROJEKT S.A. (hereinafter referred to as “the company”) wishes to provide an update regarding its publication schedule for 2021 as concerns the release of dedicated versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for next-gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5). The management board of the company hereby announces that, based on recommendations supplied by persons supervising the development, it has decided to allocate additional time to both projects. The company currently intends to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in the first quarter of 2022, and the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the second quarter of 2022."

CD Projekt RED also shared this information on their social media and the devs apologized to everyone for the delays with the words: "Apologies for the extended wait, but we want to make it right".
The potential delay of next-gen releases of The Witcher and Cyberpunk has been discussed for some time now. In September, Michal Nowakowski from CD Projekt's board admitted that the Cyberpunk 2077 version for PS5 and XSX could be delayed. Turns out, he wasn't wrong.
The good news is that we now know (more or less, but still) how long we will have to wait for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Well, unless the company delayes the launch again, which we've already gotten used to.
