Want to learn the official way to host a private game in Killing Floor 2 in 2024? Check out our guide, where we explain what to do when you encounter server issues.
Killing Floor 2 is on sale across all platforms in celebration of the Killing Floor franchise's 15th anniversary. The game's last update in January 2024 brought a ton of Quality of Life improvements, making it a great time to jump in (or jump back in)! After almost 8 years, creating private matches can still be tricky. Here's a quick guide to enjoy Killing Floor 2 with your friends.
How to Create a Private Match in Killing Floor 2 in 2024
Killing Floor 2 doesn't have a built-in function to create private servers in the traditional sense. However, you can achieve a similar experience with friends through the game's matchmaking system:
- Select “Online” in the game’s main menu and click on “Create Match”. In the Permission Tab, choose the Private option.
- Invite friends before you click on “Play Online now”. Hit the “Create Party” in the top right corner to invite them beforehand, so they can jump right into the action without needing a password.
- This will search for existing servers with open slots you can take over to host. Finding a suitable server with "Create Match" might take time. There are currently a lot of newcomers due to game’s big sale, so the servers may be a bit overloaded.
- If the search fails, you’ll need to start over.
In order to host a 100% private custom server, you need to make a dedicated. You can find all the information on how to do that in Killing Floor 2 wiki page.
