Counter Strike 1.6's de_dust2 Overhauled by a Fan
The new design of the iconic _de_dust2 map from CS 1.6 was created by one of the fans. In addition to improved graphics, the structure has been significantly expanded.
- The original version of the de_dust2 map in Counter Strike 1.6 has received a fan-made overhaul.
The iconic Counter Strike 1.6 map de_dust2 has been given a fan-made refresh using the original Source engine. Daniil Lebedev, who has been working on the project for quite some time, has not only improved the visuals, squeezing every drop out of the old engine, but also significantly expanded the map with new paths and objects.
Lebedev used several texture tricks to further improve the visual aspect of the map. Shading and shiny materials have been added. While the changes he's made may be quite a problem for hardcore purists of the original de_dust2, it's hard to pass by what the author has managed to accomplish with an engine that's over 20 years old.
Changes made to the map caused an increase in hardware requirements, and more specifically, RAM to a dizzying 128 MB. The map has been made available online, so any willing CS 1.6 owner can download it and use it in the game. What do you think of the work?
