Constellation Reviews. Apple TV Plus Has Another Engaging Sci-Fi Series with a Good Score on Rotten Tomatoes
Apple TV+ has a lot good productions in its library. Will Constellation join their ranks? Here you can find first reviews of the sci-fi TV show.
Constellation is a new sci-fi series from Apple TV+, debuting on the platform on February 21. The production fetured Noomi Rapace in the lead role, playing Jo, an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space. While there, she discovers that key elements of her life are missing. This science fiction series is set to delve into the human psyche, focusing on the desperate mission of a woman who not only has to recover what she has lost, but also prove the truth about the mysteries surrounding space travel.
The plot alone sounds intriguing, and the trailer also promised that we can expect something interesting. But what do critics who have already seen episodes of Constellation think of the production? Among the reviews, there are some negative ones, but for the most part the series is reviewed positively, although some problems are pointed out, among which are mentioned the lack of emotional complexity and disappointing answers to intriguing questions. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has 79% positive reviews out of 14. Below you can read excerpts from several reviews.
Constellation runs on the sheer unsettling thrill of watching Jo try to puzzle out what’s really going on. But vibes only go so far when satisfying answers aren’t forthcoming, and by the end of its first season, the drama has run out of steam –The Hollywood Reporter’s Angie Han.
The plot contrivances do Constellation no favors – RogerEbert’s Max Covill.
The answers it uncovers aren’t wholly surprising, but they are as emotionally resonant as they are strikingly shot. The journey is one of profound loss just as it is flooring discovery, much like what defines the beauty and terror of the universe itself – Collider’s Chase Hutchinson.
What it lacks in emotional complexity, it makes up for with an uneasy atmosphere and ever-intensifying air of mystery – Financial Times’ Dan Einav.
So, as you can see, voices are divided, but it's fair to say that Constellation is an engaging series that asks many intriguing questions. The big problem, however, may be that it doesn't provide satisfying answers.
If you want to see for yourself how this science fiction series looks like, you can already watch three episodes of Constellation on Apple TV+.
