CoD: Modern Warfare 3 Not Just an Old Chestnut; 'Innovations' Announced

We have learned details about the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. The popular FPS will rely primarily on proven solutions from previous parts - the newer ones and the older ones. This does not mean, however, that we will not find novelties in the game.

We recently learned that this year's Call of Duty is called Modern Warfare 3. The game will debut on November 10.

The game, developed by studios Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, is a direct sequel (for the first time in the franchise's history) to last year's Modern Warfare 2 and draws from the prequel in spades.

It draws so much, however, that the online installment was quickly christened "MW 2.5." Fuel to the fire was added by a rumor (confirmed) that on launch day the game would feature only refreshed maps from the original MW2 from 2009.

Fortunately, yesterday's "full disclosure" of the game showed that the new CoD will not be just a repetition of the past. After all, the old morsel will be served to the players with slightly altered spice mix - by no means exotic, however, well, maybe with a small "rotting" exception.

A pinch of novelty, many returns

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - to the surprise of absolutely no one - is a safe evolution of the series, with one innovative change. However, it is worth noting that many well-liked solutions from previous installments return to the game - those newer and those already a bit old.

  • Multiplayer gameplay sees the return of the classic minimap, on which players who do not use a silencer will be marked as "red dots."
  • TTK, or time needed to kill a player, has been extended - players, like in Cold War will once again have 150 health points.
  • The movement system was rebuilt, which uses proven solutions, such as slide or reload animation cancelling - which will add dynamism to the gameplay. New in this regard is the so-called Tac-Stance mode, which is supposed to allow for aggressive clashes and evasive maneuvers.

  • Players will again benefit from all perks from the start of a multiplayer match.
  • In "multiplayer," in the match lobby, it will again be possible to vote for the next map.
  • A Carry Forward system has been created, which from launch day will carry over all weapons from MW2 to the new installment, along with their progress. New guns will also come to the game.
  • In the upcoming CoD players will gain more freedom to personalize their equipment; the option to change gloves, tactical vests, boots, etc. will come to the game.
  • "Innovative" solutions in the Gunsmith mode have also been announced; players will benefit from aftermarket parts that will enable the creation of unique combinations of weapon types.
  • The real novelty seems to be Zombie mode, which this time will take place on a huge open map (rumors speak of a new map from Warzone) along with multiple teams. The gameplay mode with the undead was specially prepared by the developers from Treyarch and is expected to have a "cinematic story."
  • It was also revealed that combat missions (OCMs) are heading to the game as part of a special campaign, which will give players a fair amount of freedom of action and operation planning. They complement the game's cinematic story, which evokes associations with Special Operations from previous Modern Warfare series.

It is worth mentioning that preliminary post-release support for the upcoming Call of Duty. The game will traditionally offer seasons, within which MW3 will receive at least 12 unique 6v6 maps.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 10. The game is headed for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

The standard editon of the game costs $69.99, while the Vault Edition is priced at $99. For more information on the various editions of the game, we refer you to this address.
