CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Blocked in Russia by Sony
Sony's Russian department has refused to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered on PlayStation Store. The reason could be the famous No Russian mission.
- Sony's Russian branch has blocked the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered on local PlayStation Store;
- The reason is probably the controversial No Russian mission;
- PC and XONE versions are scheduled to be released in Russia at the end of the month.
Since yesterday, PlayStation 4 owners can enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, a game offering a refreshed version of the campaign from the FPS launched in 2009. However, it turns out that Russian players will be unable to join the fun, as Sony's local branch has refused to release the title on the local PlayStation Store.
This information was provided on Twitter by the official Russian account of the Call of Duty series. At the same time it was assured that the releases of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered on PC and Xbox One will in this country will take place as planned, in a month.
The aforementioned twitter account also emphasizes that the in-game campaign shows completely fictional events and faithfully recreates the story mode from the 2009 original. Such a declaration enables us to assume that the source of problems with Sony's local unit may be the infamous No Russian mission, in which the player, as a CIA agent working undercover in a terrorist group, carries out an attack on Moscow airport.
During this sequence, the player could massacre crowds of civilians in the terminal. The scene caused great controversy in 2009, before the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Activision finally decided to leave it in the game, but an option to skip the mission was added.
For the time being Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has only been released on PlayStation 4. Sony has been granted temporary exclusivity for this title so PC and Xbox One releases will not launch until the end of this month.
