Closed Beta of Incognito Mode in Google Maps Has Been Launched
A few days ago a closed beta of incognito mode in Google Maps has begun. Currently, it is only available to owners of Android devices and members of Google Maps Preview.
In May, we informed you that during the I/O 2019 conference, Google announced the introduction of incognito mode to applications other than browsers (including maps and search engines). Now we have learned that for several days there have been closed tests of the feature in Google Maps.
Beta is available for Google Maps Preview members and the incognito mode update currently only works on Android devices. The mode works in a similar way to that known from Google Chrome web browser - when you start it, Google Maps will stop sharing your location or recording places you've visited.
In addition, the icon representing our location will turn black, and the upper right corner will show a sign of incognito mode enabled.
It is currently unknown when the feature will appear officially and on other systems (e.g. iOS). However, it can be assumed that it will be this year.
