Better Roads in Cities Skylines 2 Did Not Come With Changes in Real Estate
The building mechanics in Cities: Skylines 2 will probably look identical to those in the previous installment. This is indicated by materials published by the developers.
Two days ago we were able to see what the roads look like in Cities: Skylines 2. At first glance, we can see that Colossal Order has listened to player feedback and made a number of needed changes. However, it seems that not all aspects of gameplay will be improved. After all, there are many indications that the building mechanics were left in 2015.
Building in Cities Skylines is based on a grid composed of small squares. This results in the inability to create plots without right angles. Thus, it comes into conflict with roads built on an arc and causes gaps in area coverage. The following graphic shows this well.
In the developer's diary showing roads in Cities Skylines 2, fragments have appeared showing what the construction will look like. They show that we will again have to deal with the same grid type. This means that a road running on a curve will generate the same problem.
This problem was pointed out by Reddit user AltAccount_123456. He published a graphic that shows precisely the gaps in the grid, which are deceptively reminiscent of those in Cities Skylines. For the rest, see for yourself.
Materials from Cities Skylines 2 show also other afflictions known from the previous installment. Among other things, you can see gaps in fields if roads do not intersect at right angles.
More information on building in Cities Skylines 2 will be announced soon. According to the schedule published by Colossal Order for the publication of dev diary entries, it appears that this gameplay element will be presented on July 10.
