Last week, Cities: Skylines II received a new update, and now the game has been summarized in a recent financial report prepared by its publisher, Paradox Interactive.

According to Paradox's CEO, Fredrik Wester, the reactions to the premieres of new titles (such as The Lamplighters League or Star Trek: Infinite) are mixed. However, he particularly focused on Cities: Skylines II in his statement, which wasn't well-received by players.

Cities: Skylines II is the big release of the quarter, and we are upset that we didn't live up to players' performance expectations and couldn't release on all platforms at the same time (CS 2 will be released on consoles later this year - ed. note) - he explained.

Wester also brought up the sale of the city builder under discussion. According to the head of Paradox, the game is still selling well, and by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, it had reached the hands of over a million players. At the same time, he assured that the developers will continue to make fixes and develop the second installment of Cities: Skylines.

Players are making it clear what they think about the current state of CS 2. The SteamDB data indicates that the first installment had a peak of 10,437 users playing at one time in the last 24 hours, while the sequel had only 7,702 users.

Let's remember that fans will receive the necessary modding tools at some point in the future. However, before that happens, we have to follow the next posts from the developers. In the last message, they answered players' questions related to the operation of Industry and Goods in the game.

Finally, it's also worth mentioning that the Swedish Paradox increased its revenues in 2023. The increase was 34% compared to 2022.
