Oppenheimer Star Lost Batman Casting; Confesses What He Thought of Christian Bale

Christopher Nolan's latest movie Oppenheimer has arrived on world cinema screens. Cillian Murphy, who plays the title character, brilliantly portrayed the conflicted scientist. However, we were this close to seeing the actor as the main character in another film by the aforementioned director. Indeed, Murphy was seriously considered for the role in The Dark Knight.

In the end, however, it was Christian Bale who played Batman in Nolan's trilogy, and Cillian Murphy played Scarecrow. In an interview with GQ Oppenheimer star revealed how he views his loss and his fellow actor's involvement years later.

It seems that the artist has long accepted the casting decision made by makers of The Dark Knight and, years later, admires how brilliantly Christian Bale played the role of Bruce Wayne. Recall that recently Cillian Murphy also played with Nolan in Dunkirk, and apparently the cooperation with the director on the set of the aforementioned productions went so well that the filmmaker decided to engage the actor for the lead role in Oppenheimer.

Interestingly, with the engagement in his new work, Christopher Nolan gave a chance to another actor, mainly associated with superhero films - Robert Downey Jr. It was in Oppenheimer where the star of Iron Man presented the fullness of his acting abilities, and called Nolan's latest production the best film in which he starred.
