Remaster of Iconic RPG Finally Got Anticipated Patch
This RPG was quite popular at the turn of the century. The PC port of its remaster could also be a success, if only it worked as it should. It is possible that the bugs will eventually be fixed.
A remaster of an iconic game from years ago can not only make a lot of money for the devs, but, above all, win over many fans who, in a fit of nostalgia, will enjoy the refreshed gameplay. It happens, however, that the possible pleasure is quickly replaced by irritation, caused, for example, by technical issues. Many jRPG lovers have faced such a situation with Chrono Cross from 1999. They were tempted by the remaster released a year ago, subtitled The Radical Dreamers. It quickly became apparent, however, that the PC port was inferior. It took a long time for Square Enix to respond, but the company finally addressed the issue.
Serious complaints
From the beginning, there was no shortage of opinions among gamers that the refreshed version of Chrono Cross on PC is glaring with drastic fps drops. This problem is widespread, as the game clearly has trouble maintaining stable 30 frames per second, which effectively hinders any enjoyment. This, combined with the game's notorious crashes and numerous minor bugs, makes Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers virtually unplayable on PC.
A set of fixes
The developers remained deaf to player reports for a long time. Finally, yesterday on the Twitter profile of the brand the devs announced the release of a patch aimed at addressing the reported shortcomings. Among the most important changes is the promise of increased performance. Square Enix also added that Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers will also be free of several other minor problems. The patch will also be released for console versions.
Faster than the developer
While it should be appreciated that Square Enix has finally decided to take this step, the year-long wait for the necessary update has severely annoyed gamers. The problems of the refreshed version of the jRPG troubled the community enough that a fix had been available for some time already, created by the fans themselves. A player by the handle isa presented his own patch pack last April, improving, for example, the animations.
Hope for correct operation
Let's hope that after the patches, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers on PC will start functioning as it should from the very beginning. Interestingly, this item had more luck than another game released by Square Enix anyway. We are talking about Nier: Automata, which on PC, although it's been almost six years since its release, still suffers from some technical issues. This is despite the release of a patch in 2021 to fix all the most serious ailments. May the troubles Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers be finally over with the latest patches.
