CD Projekt RED Apologizes for Cyberpunk 2077 and Plans Patches
CD Projekt RED apologized for the poor technical condition of Cyberpunk 2077, especially on consoles. The developers promise to fix the most serious problems on PS4 and Xbox One by the end of February, but at the same time will assist in refunds for those who are not willing to wait that long.
- Next patch (1.05?) goes live this week,
- Big patch in January and another in February,
- Aforementioned updates are to fix the most serious problems of console releases,
- The PC version will also be patched in parallel.
Cyberpunk 2077 leaves much to be desired in terms of technical condition. The game is riddled with bugs and has performance problems, especially on consoles. CD Projekt RED is currently working on hotfixes (the first one, number 1.04, was released a few days ago), but the developers also decided to apologize to the players.
The devs admitted that it was a mistake not to make the console version materials available before the release, which made it impossible for the owners of this hardware to make an informed decision about purchasing the game. The developers also regret that they didn't take the time to provide adequate performance on PS4 and Xbox One.
The devs also revealed a plan to repair the game. The next patch (probably 1.05) is scheduled to be released this week, and we can expect further improvements after the Holidays. In January and February two big updates will be released, which will solve most of the problems troubling old-gen consoles. Of course, it is impossible to improve Cyberpunk 2077 to the point of making it look as good on PS4 and XONE as it does on a powerful PC, but the difference is to be significantly smaller than now.
The developers also don't forget about PC gamers, and there will be parallel updates to improve the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt RED hopes that players will remain patient, but the devs know they can't demand it. Therefore, those who do not want to wait are recommended to get a refund. In the case of digital versions, it's relatively simple (Sony has also made it easier for its customers). In turn, owners of boxed editions should first try their luck in the shop where they bought CP2077. If this fails, buyers are asked to contact [email protected]. The developers promise that they will do their best to make the refund possible.
