„Can He Come Back In and Do It Again?” The Audition of The Big Bang Theory Star Was So Good That Chuck Lorre Thought It Was a Fluke
Chuck Lorre couldn't believe the talent of the actor who applied for the role in The Big Bang Theory, so he had to check him again to make sure his first good performance wasn't a fluke.
The cast of The Big Bang Theory has created unforgettable characters. The creators of the TV series managed to match them with perfect actors, whose talent they themselves were surprised by. Especially in the case of Jim Parsons, star of the sitcom. After his performance during the audition, Chuck Lorre, the creator of TBBT, could not believe how good the actor was.
During the interview, Lorre praised Sheldon actor (via Foundation Interviews). The creator of The Big Bang Theory talked about the casting of Parsons, during which the artist wowed everyone. Lorre couldn't believe how good he was, so he decided to see if it was purely by chance and asked him to perform again. It, too, must have been successful, since the role of Sheldon finally went to Jim Parsons.
He came in and auditioned; he came in and auditioned for the part of a Sheldon, and it was hilarious. It was shocking. It was like, oh my god! I asked the casting director, Nikki Valko, who’s, by the way, been part and parcel to every one of these shows and finding Angus [T. Jones from Two and a Half Men, another Lorre’s sitcom] and Jon [Cryer] and all the characters on The Big Bang Theory… You know, she brought in all those actors on Dharma & Greg.
I said, can he come back in and do it again? Because I thought maybe it was a fluke of some kind, but it wasn’t. He’s a genius; he’s a comic genius.
Casting Parson was a great decision. As the “center of the universe” of the TV series, he worked perfectly, giving rhythm to the group dynamics. If it weren't for the right actors in their places and the chemistry between them, the TV show certainly wouldn't have worked so well and turned out to be such a big hit.
TBBT has gained immense popularity and audience appeal over the course of twelve years. The sitcom has been aired for twelve seasons, and has already lived to see two spin-offs, and work is now underway on a third as well.
