Call of Duty: Vanguard Will Take 270GB Together With Warzone
We've learned how much disk space it will take to install Call of Duty: Vanguard, both on its own and together with CoD Warzone. The developers also discussed the engine powering the latest installment of the series.
- Full installation of CoD Vanguard together with Warzone will take 270 GB;
- Without Warzone just 75-95 GB is enough;
- Vanguard will use Warzone's engine, making it easier to integrate the two games.
Last night Activision revealed Call of Duty: Vanguard, this year's installment in the world's most popular FPS series. The first trailer was released, and the web was flooded with previews (including ours). In the following hours, however, a lot of additional details appeared, which are worth writing about.
First of all, thanks to the game's card on Microsoft Store we learned that a full installation of Call of Duty: Vanguard will take as much as 270 GB. You'll need this much disk space to enjoy everything the title has to offer, that is, the campaign, multiplayer, zombie co-op mode and CoD: Warzone, with which the latest installment of the series will be closely integrated.
It is this last item that is responsible for the size of the installation. Vanguard alone, without Warzone, will take up 75 GB on Xbox One and 95 GB on Xbox Series X. The difference between the two platforms is most likely due to the presence of 4K textures in the next-gen release. All of these figures apply only to the Microsoft console versiony, as the storage requirements are not available in the game's tabs on Battle.net and PlayStation Store.
The integration between the two games will be facilitated by the factthat CoD: Vanguard runs on the same engine as CoD: Warzone. The technology was first developed for the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In turn, last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War was built on an improved engine from Treyarch's earlier games.
All of these technologies share a common base, but they also differ strongly in many aspects. Basing Vanguard on the engine from Warzone makes it easy for developers to transfer weapons, operators and gameplay balance between the two games. This should avoid the problems that arose when a pack of weapons from Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War was ported to Warzone. The developers at Sledgehammer Games also ensure that they've implemented the best improvements made by Treyarch.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles, and the game will be released on November 5 this year.
