Call of Duty: Vanguard Devs May be Working on New CoD With Zombies
According to Tom Henderson, Sledgehammer Games has started working on a new installment of Call of Duty. The project is to focus on zombies and it is possible that it will be released as a stand-alone game.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is not selling particularly well. Nevertheless, its creators, studio Sledgehammer Games, have supposedly taken on a new game. Or at least so it seems from Tom Henderson's tweet, who in recent years has become known as a reliable source of information on the series.
"Call of Duty: Zombies".
According to his sources it is a project unrelated - at least for now - to any of the emerging installments of the series and entirely devoted to the theme of zombies. Until now, it was only the subject of extra modes in each installment of CoD, e.g. in Black Ops - Cold War or the aforementioned Vanguard. For both of them were created by studio, namely Treyarch, which - according to reports by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier - is currently working on Call of Duty scheduled for 2024.
And what awaits us in the next few months? Most likely releases of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
New Call of Duty - when?
As Activision Blizzard denied rumors about the lack of a paid game from the series in 2023, it is possible that the alleged new project of Sledgehammer Games will be released just then. The developer had plans for the continuation of CoD: Vanguard - at least two more stories it wants to tell were mentioned - but the poor sales of the title, mentioned at the beginning of the news, could make the team reconsider.
What's Microsoft's take on it?
It is also worth mentioning that all decisions related to the development of the Call of Duty brand is still made by Activision. However, that may change, when Microsoft takes over the publisher duties, which is supposed to to happen in June 2023 at the latest.
