Activision Plans to Keep Messing With Call of Duty Game Titles (Leak)
We have probably learned the release date and title of the next installment of the Call of Duty series. Hint: we're in for a little mixup again - this time with the form of writing the number three.
At the end of April we informed about the fact that Activision has confirmed, sort of, that in 2023 - despite the earlier doubts - it will release the next installment of the Call of Duty series. Now, thanks to Insider-Gaming.com's sources we have probably learned under what title it will be released.
If these reports are confirmed, it will be CoD: Modern Warfare III - the sequel to last year's CoD: Modern Warfare II, while also being a reboot of Modern Warfare 3 from 2011. It is supposedly set to debut on November 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S..
This would mean that we're in for a confusion again at the game's title will differ from that of the original only in the Roman - rather than Arabic - form of writing the number three. Fortunately, this is the last installment in this Call of Duty subseries.
According to Jason Schreier CoD: Modern Warfare III is being developed by Sledgehammer Games - the last game developed by them is CoD: Vanguard from 2021 - which is to be supported by the other teams developing the brand (Treyarch, Raven Software, Infinity Ward, Beenox etc.). Although Insider-Gaming.com cites this information, it is difficult to be certain, as Schreier reported it in November 2022 in reference to "premium paid DLC" for CoD: MW II.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III however, is expected to be a full-fledged installment, offering a single-player campaign, multiplayer and zombie modes, as well as new maps for CoD: Warzone 2. According to information provided by Insider Gaming, beta testing of the game is scheduled for October 6-10 (PS4 and PS5 only) and October 12-16 (all platforms). In turn, the first season of online gameplay is scheduled to launch on December 5.
