Borderlands 3 tech demo showcased at GDC 2017
Hungry for Borderlands 3 news? Well, not much of that yet, but there is a tech demo that shows how the game may look like.
As the Borderlands franchise steps into the current generation of consoles, the next installment in this popular post-apocalyptic sandbox action games series is going to be powered by Unreal Engine 4. However, it does not mean that Borderlands 3 will sacrifise its predecessors’ unique non-realistic style of graphics. Rather, the new engine will help push the visuals to the next level.
During Epic Games keynote at this week’s Game Developers Conference, Randy Pitchford from Gearbox Software showed off some experimental UE4 environments, which indicate what direction Borderlands 3 is likely to head in terms of visuals. Of course, this is by no means the final version, but it does prove that this is still Borderlands, with its characteristic cel shaded stylistics. Watch the video from the presentation (shared by IGN), in which Pitchford talks more about Borderlands 3’s graphics:
Interestingly, Pitchford also suggested that we can expect some more information on Borderlands 3 soon. Hopefully, he meant this year’s E3. Anyway, the game won’t be out too quickly, as it’s not included on Take-Two’s 2017 fiscal year publishing schedule.
