Borderlands 3 Sales Will Soon Exceed 8 Million Copies
Take-Two Interactive announced that the sales of Borderlands 3 will soon exceed 8 million copies. The game finds buyers at a much faster rate than the previous two installments.
- Borderlands: 3 million in four months
- Borderlands 2: nearly 6 million in five months
- Borderlands 3: nearly 8 million in five months
The management of Gearbox Software has reasons to be satisfied. The sales of the team's latest game, Borderlands 3, will soon exceed 8 million copies. The information was included in the financial report of Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the project.
As a reminder, Borderlands 3 launched on September 13, 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The PC release is available exclusively through Epic Games Store. At the beginning of November Take-Two Interactive reported that the game's sales were approaching 7 million copies, so during three months the game found an additional million buyers.
The publisher did not inform how the versions for individual hardware platforms have managed. We have only last month's estimates from PlayTracker that Borderlands 3 PC sold around 2 million copies, making it by far the biggest bestseller among Epic Games Store's exclusive.
It is worth noting that the game is doing much better than the previous installments of the series. Four months after its launch, the first Borderlands found 3 million buyers, while Borderlands 2 sold almost 6 million copies within five months of its release.
The previous parts of the series have been selling well for many years, thanks to the regular release of noteworthy expansions. Borderlands 3 is to be developed in the same way. In December the first big DLC entitled Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot debuted, and others are on their way.
