Bloodlines 2 Still in Production; Could Launch Next Year
Paradox is pleased with the progress of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. It is possible that the release will take place as early as next year.
In an interview with Privata Affarer Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester addressed the issue of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.
- The CEO assured that work on the project is progressing well. Paradox is very pleased with its current condition.
- The owrk is progressing so smoothly that Paradox Interactive will soon announce a new approximate release date.
- Fredrik Wester was even tempted to say that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 could be released next year.
- Interestingly, despite these assurances, it has still not been revealed who is actually working on the project at the moment.
Recall that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was announced in March 2019. Hardsuit Labs worked on the game at the time, and the release was planned for early 2020. Initially, work seemed to be going well, but then the project suffered a series of delays.
Delays alone are nothing new in the industry, but it soon became apparent that the game's problems ran much deeper. In 2020 lead writer Brian Mitsoda and creative director Ka'ai Cluney were laid off. The loss of Mitsoda in particular caused a lot of concern among fans, as he was a veteran of the first Bloodlines and many saw his involvement in the sequel as a guarantee that we would get a worthy follow-up.
Things only got worse after that. Two months later, the team's senior storyline designer Cara Ellison left.. She was replaced by screenwriters known, among others, for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Eventually, in 2021, Paradox decided to take the project from Hardsuit Labs. It was handed over to a new developer, who has not been revealed so far. It is only said that it is an experienced and well-liked team.
