Bloodborne Movie is Coming? Script Said to be Written by Creator of Shazam!

Fans of FromSoftware's games are still waiting for at least a remaster of Bloodborne, which will offer refreshed visuals and a higher frame rate. Sooner, however, fans may get something completely different. Gaming insider Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon that Sony has commissioned a movie adaptation of Bloodborne (vide Comic Book).

The movie's producer would be Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, who previously held the same position on several Transformers movies and G.I.Joe. He has also participated in screen adaptations of DOOM and Dead Rising, and has been gathering his experience since 2005. The screenwriter of the Bloodborne movie is reported to be Darren Lemke.

The filmmaker was previously involved in, among others, Shrek Forever and Shazam!, on which he was responsible for the script or storyline. Lemke also held the position of executive producer of eight episodes of Wheel of Time, a TV adaptation of the book series available on Amazon Prime Video. Insider Daniel Richtman did not provide any information suggesting that a director has already been hired for the project.

In Bloodborne the player takes on the role of an unnamed protagonist, simply called the Hunter. He arrives in the Victorian era-inspired city of Yharnam to find the "Paleblood." In the city itself, due to a disease, people are turning into murderous beasts, which the main character must start hunting. Trying to solve the mystery of the city, the Hunter faces various monsters and entities not of this earth.

It is unclear whether the game's movie adaptation would be a direct translation of the story known from FromSoftware's game, or would depict past or future events.
