Sudden success of Vampire Survivors in the last year took everyone by surprise. Simple graphics, isometric view, and lots and lots of enemies on screen with bullet hell mechanics was something that everyone needed but wasn’t aware of it. Since the game was so simple in its core gameplay and also not graphically demanding, it was just a matter of time before other developers were inspired by this idea.
One of such games is Halls of Torment. Following the path of its predecessor, the title adapts simple visual art style resembling the first Diablo. As in similar games of the genre, Halls of Torment throws waves of minions and bosses at the player, whose purpose is to survive till the end and fight one of the lords. On one of the arenas, you may stumble upon blood trails on the ground. You can also find yourself in possession of item called Token of Pain. Let’s learn more about them.
Blood Trails and Token of Pain in Halls of Torment
Playing the first arena, you might have already met the first lord. It is not your usual easy, training boss. Defeating it is not a breeze due to the fact of its massive health pool. Some players consider it one of the hardest bosses in the game. Worry not, as there is a way to make this fight significantly easier.
While roaming around the first area in the game, pay close attention to the ground. At some point, you may notice blood trails. Their source is a mysterious book on a pedestal called The Bloodstained Pages. Follow them in one and the other direction, as they are connecting two altars. Killing enemies inside the circles around them will grant you purple, broken thing. Collecting two of those will grant you another item – Token of Pain.
Obtaining the token will help you greatly by weakening the final boss of the level by halving its health points making the battle a lot more approachable.
