Big Battlefield 2042 Patch Disappoints Players
Players have already tested the new patch for Battlefield 2042. Unfortunately, they believe the fixes introduced by the developers are not enough.
- Players have expressed their opinion on the new patch for Battlefield 2042;
- According to many fans, it introduces elements that should have been included in the game on the day of release;
- At the same time, the update does not eliminate many long-standing bugs.
Yesterday marked the debut of another major update for Battlefield 2042. The developers boast that patch 4.0 introduces more than 400 improvements to the game, which should significantly change the player experience.
Fans of the series, who still play its latest installment, quickly took to testing the title after downloading the update. Unfortunately, judging by their comments on Reddit, they are not satisfied with the developers' work.
It is still not enough
On the forum you can find comments from many players. There is no shortage of greater or lesser praise directed towards DICE. According to fans, the latest update is indeed a large package of valuable improvements.
Players point out, among other things, good changes in the area of interface. Weapon modules also make much more sense now that they actually offer a variety of bonuses. New features such as VoIP and a more accessible scoreboard are also positive elements.
Unfortunately, according to many fans, these changes are not enough to regain their interest in the game. This is because all the fixes, changes and novelties introduced by the patch should already be available in the day one version of the game.
Players have pointed out the aforementioned VoIP and the end-of-match scoreboard, among other things. These elements were standard even in games from a dozen years ago.
"It [the update - ed. note] gives me hope that DICE can still be competent. Still, this update brings the game down to the bare minimum I expected at launch, but you know... What's done is done," writes AWU_Hades
"Forgive me, but I will not praise these 'fixes', which have been a standard in the gaming industry since the early 2000s. Counter Strike 1.6, released in 2003 (almost 20 years ago), had VoIP, a server finder, and a leaderboard", comments Zyclexx
"DICE has lowered the bar too much. What should have been in the release patch, they added to the game five months after its debut and expect us to be excited about the prospect of a great future. We've received three updates in four months, and this is the only one that made a difference," coloringeye
Opinions like this abound on Reddit. Players are simply unable to enjoy the improvements that should have been included in the game before its release.
Bugs continue to haunt
The fact that the changes introduced by the update are nothing unusual is not the only problem of the players. Battlefield 2042 is also still plagued by a number of bugs.
Issues such as incorrect hitboxes, are yet to be fixed. Fans continue to complain that many times they find themselves shooting straight at an opponent, but the latter does not receive any damage.
Players also come across firing through walls, object clipping and many other annoying bugs.
There is also a lot to be desired in terms of optimization. Even players with extremely powerful rigs complain about regular fps drops. They often occur when aiming a weapon, which further hinders the gameplay.
All this makes it difficult to talk about the revolution, which was supposed to take place in the game thanks to the publication of patch 4.0. The game still does not meet the requirements of most players, and what's even more important - does not arouse their interest.
While SteamDB shows a jump in the number of active players at the release of the update, it was not impressive. We're talking about a AAA game, which at the hottest moment of yesterday had just over 3,000 people active (via Valve's service).
So DICE still has a big problem and it will be difficult for it to regain the trust of players.
