Beta Version of GOG Galaxy 2.0 With First Major Update

The closed beta version of GOG Galaxy 2.0 has been updated for the first time to bring its functionality closer to what the developers promised in their first announcements. Galaxy 2.0 allows you to create a universal database of our games on all modern hardware platforms.

GOG Galaxy 2.0 is a new version of the Galaxy app developed by GOG.com digital distribution platform. It is intended to enable the players to create a single collection of games, which includes titles owned by them on other digital distribution platforms, as well as on desktop consoles. In addition, the client offers a variety of statistics on gameplay time and achievements, as well as enables us to install and run games regardless of which service we purchased the game. The closed beta of Galaxy 2.0 was launched in June. The participants could get acquainted with some of the announced client options. In the first major update that was just published, its functionality is finally getting closer to what developers promised in the original announcements of the application.

The first novelty introduced in the update is the expanded search function underlying the operation of GOG Galaxy 2.0. It enables you to find your friends scattered across various digital distribution services, as well as games on all modern hardware platforms, which can then be manually added to the virtual library. From the search level, you can also install or run your titles on PC. Using the tags created by us we can also browse the list of games connected to them.

Another novelty is the improved presentation of our library. We can now choose from a variety of new options to sort games from the year they were released to our rating or time spent playing. The collection can be displayed in text form or as a gallery of covers and promotional graphics, whose appearance (grid, list, etc.) we will adjust according to your taste. In addition, the developers have also improved the list of downloaded data and updates, which will eventually also work with games purchased outside GOG.com.

You can still register for the closed beta of GOG Galaxy 2.0 on the official website at this address. Developers announce that they will soon send another portion of invitations to new users.
