Battlefield 2042's Hazard Zone Resembles Escape from Tarkov, Data Miner Reveals
Hazard Zone in Battlefield 2042 may have taken a lot of inspiration from Escape from Tarkov. This is what a certain data miner came to, who revealed information about the aforementioned mode.
- Data miner has revealed information about the Hazard Zone mode in Battlefield 2042;
- He claims, it is similar to the gameplay known from Escape from Tarkov;
- Players will be taken to a vast map, from which they will have to escape, while competing with AI and human-controlled soldiers.
Hazard Zone is an enigmatic mode that's supposed to be an entirely new experience that hasn't been seen before in DICE's shooter series. Apart from these assurances, however, it's hard to say anything about it. Fortunately, a data miner known as temporyal came to our aid, digging up information on the mode from the test version of Battlefield 2042. According to the info, it is strongly inspired by the Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown.
Similarly to the aforementioned games, players will be transported to a vast map and their goal will be to get to the point from which they will be evacuated. On their way they will be able to find other means of escape, which, however, will require completing appropriate tasks in order to unlock them. So players will have to look for disks with valuable information or crashed satellites. It is possible that there will be even more quests of this kind.
The players will have to face Ai-controlled opponents. Enemy patrols will scour the map, and their ranks will include "bosses" in vehicles. Defeating them will probably be connected with appropriate rewards that will help us gain advantage in battle. The ranks of AI will be replenished by, among others, parachute drops. Of course, other players will also stand on our way.
The map will also be filled with many spots where we can replenish ammunition or acquire special upgrades, such as accelerated health regeneration or stronger armor. We'll even find among them the opportunity to get a HDT Storm vehicle or a robot dog known from the game's trailers. Such support will probably significantly help us reach the evacuation point faster.
When collecting new upgrades and expanding their arsenal, however, players will need to exercise caution. Just like in Escape from Tarkov death means the irreversible loss of unlocked weapons. The answer to this kind of threat can be a special insurance, which is probably one of the upgrades that we'll be able to get in the game. Information provided by the data miner also reveals the presence of a special currency, which will enable us to unlock equipment.
So it seems that DICE really prepares a mode which Battlefield has never seen before. The only question that remains is whether it will appeal to the fans. The answer to this question will be known only on October 22, when the new installment of the series will launch.
