Battlefield 2042 Will Offer Classic Maps From Previous Installments
We got to know the alleged list of maps from previous installments that are set to appear in Battlefield 2042. The arenas will be part of a special mode that will focus on honoring the past.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- During the EA PLAY Live Spotlight show, developers revealed that Battlefield 2042 will feature "fan favorite maps";
- According to insider Tom Henderson, classic arenas will include Metro and Wake Island, among others;
- The maps will be available as part of a mode called BattleHub or BattlefieldHub.
Battlefield 2042's release is fast approaching, and yet we still don't know all of the game's content; the developers have left a few more secrets to uncover. One of them was discussed during the recent EA PLAY Live 2021 Spotlight - The Future of FPS genre panel, which featured Chris Grass from Ripple Effect Studios (formerly DICE LA), among others. We're talking about a "secret" game mode, which will offer players well-known and popular maps from previous installments of Battlefield series:
"I can't say too much about that. What I can tell you is that one of the elements of this experience that we're creating is adding to Battlefield 2042 some fan favorite maps," said Grass.
More details on the subject were provided via Twitter by a well-known insider associated with the brand - Tom Henderson. According to him, the mode will be called BattlefieldHub (or BattleHub) and will offer maps such as Metro, Locker and Wake Island. Henderson also stresses that BattleHub may not be the final name for the mode.
If these reports are confirmed, then Battlefield 2042 will be a true homage to previous games in the series, such as BF3 and BF4. We'll find out what the "secret" mode actually is on July 22 during the next EA Play Live show. Most likely, on that occasion the developers will reveal to us the details of this nostalgic journey into the past.
Battlefield 2042 will debut on October 22 this year on PC, PS4, PS5, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
