Battlefield 2042 Sold Over 4 Million Copies Within a Week
According to well-known journalist Tom Henderson, Battlefield 2042 sold 4.23 million copies in its first week after release. This result is better than titles like Battlefield 1, Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 4.
There's no denying that Battlefield 2042 has its problems. The latest installment in the famous FPS series from DICE met with a rather cold reception, and actions like adding a Santa skin to the game did not improve the situation. The fact is, however, that the game is selling very well. Today, well-known industry journalist Tom Henderson presented some more tangible figures. According to the data he published (described as internal), in the first week after launch Battlefield 2042 shipped 4.23 million copies. That's better than Battlefield 1 (3.46 million units), Bad Company 2 (1.39 million) and Battlefield 4 (2.59 million), but behind Battlefield 3 (4.68 million).
Unfortunately, Henderson is unable to say what percentage of those copies were returned by disgruntled customers. He doubts EA would be willing to share such figures.
In other interesting figures, during the US Thanksgiving holiday, the total number of active Battlefield 2042 players on all platforms reached 1.67 million (the activity record was 269 thousand). Moreover, according to calculations, people playing on Steam account for about 20% of all players.
At the end we can ask ourselves a question, at what point the results of Battlefield 2042 will begin to slow down and how long will the players who have purchased this title feel like playing it? For this will certainly determine how long the game will be developed.
