Battlefield 2042 Season 1 in Summer; EA DICE Promises Fixes

Battlefield 2042 has more problems. EA DICE has announced that the first season of online gameplay will not begin until the summer. In the meantime, the studio intends to introduce some highly anticipated features.

A lot was said and written about Battlefield 2042's disastrous launch - our infographic gives you a good idea if you're not familiar with it. However, it seems that the problems will continue for the newest shooter from EA DICE at least until the summer. That's when season 1 of the game's online mode is to start, something which - theoretically - should have already happened. The developer decided to postpone it, because it is currently "taking action on several fronts to take into account community feedback and make key improvements to the game."

The first of the planned updates should be released in March. It is expected to bring refreshed scoreboards - separate for each team, rather than one common one as it is currently. In subsequent patches, the devs will focus on adding voice over IP (VoIP) communication across all platforms and player profiles, improving the ping system, making gameplay changes based on community suggestions, and expanding the Battlefield Portal mode with new options, tools, and necessary improvements.

Those who purchased the Year 1 Pass DLC that would have brought them four new Specialists, as many Battle Passes, and three epic skin packs to the game at the start of Season 1 - can expect a little compensation for the delay. In the March update, they will receive an "exclusive set" that includes skins for specialist, weapon and vehicle, as well as melee weapons and a player card (see below).
