Battlefield 2042 Patch Delayed; Game Loses to BF4 on Steam
DICE has delayed the release of patch 3.3 for Battlefield 2042, and the game's situation is turning very bad - the title has let nine-year-old Battlefield 4 overtake it on Steam.
The developers of Battlefield 2042 continue to disappoint fans. A patch delay has just been announced.
Patch 3.3 delayed
- Update 3.3 for Battlefield 2042 was supposed to debut this week. The developers have announced that its release has been postponed until next week.
- This will result in more than just a longer wait for fixes. Weekly missions have been disabled until the release of the update, so their return will also be delayed.
- Patch 3.3 will finally introduce a leaderboard, showing the number of kills and deaths for each player involved in a match.
Battlefield 2042 in decline on Steam, overtaken by Battlefield 4
The dramatically bad condition of the game is well reflected by its activity results on Steam. Yesterday, at the hottest time of the day Battlefield 2042 was being played by a mere 2009 concurrent users.
In comparison, for the nine-year-old Batlefield 4 the activity record on Tuesday was 2234 users. Other games doing better on Steam yesterday were Battlefield 1 (7616) and Battlefield V (21,931). As for the latter, Tuesday's activity record was more than ten times higher than that achieved by Battlefield 2042.
Of course, the results on Steam do not fully reflect the game's condition, as it is also available on other PC services and consoles. Nevertheless, they give a good idea of how badly the latest installment of the series is doing.

Worse and worse reception on Steam
The failure of the game is also reflected by its ratings. On Steam, only 28% of reviews praise the title, which is categorized as "mostly negative reception". Counting only the notes from the last 30 days, there is even less positive reviews - only 12%. This would be considered an "overwhelmingly negative reception"
