Battlefield 2042 on PC More Beautiful Thanks Nvidia's Options; Consoles Without 120 FPS at Launch

Battlefield 2042 on PC will debut with support for ray tracing, Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex. The 120 fps mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles will probably not appear in the near future - the developers explain why.

The official release of Battlefield 2042 is only 17 days away. One of the indispensable elements of the series are the impressive visuals. The latest title is no exception in this regard and takes advantage of the latest technological benefits, offered by the partnership between DICE (the game's developer) and Nvidia. Thus, similarly to the previous installment, Battlefield 2042 will launch with ray-tracing available only on GeForce RTX cards.

It looks like ray-tracing in Battlefield 2042 will be limited to improving ambient occlusion quality and will not affect other aspects of in-game lighting. Additionally, RTX card owners will be able to enjoy improved performance through the use of DLSS technology.

Not all bonuses are reserved for the latest GPUs. Gamers with GTX 900 series graphics cards and above can use Nvidia Reflex - a technology that reduces system lag and thus improves response times.

Unfortunately, the developers also have some bad news for console owners. Battlefield 2042 will apparently not offer 120 fps support on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S - at least not at launch. A verified developer from DICE commented on the matter on ResetEra:

The aforementioned goodies from Nvidia will be available already from the early access stage, which starts on November 12. It will be available to Gold Edition and Ultimate Edition owners as well as EA Play Pro subscribers.

Xbox Game Pass and EA Play subscribers will receive a 10-hour trial of Battlefield 2042. The official release of the game is scheduled for November 19. The title will launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One and PS4.
