Battlefield 2042 Launch and Day One Patch
Battlefield 2042, the latest installment of the popular series from DICE, has officially launched. Alongside the game, the devs released the first patch.
- Rubber banding;
- Optimization issues on Breakaway;
- Technical bugs found before early access.
Battlefield 2042 has officially launched. We write "officialy" because those who bought the Gold or Ultimate versions have been playing the game for a week now.
The game launched simultaneously on PC (both on Steam and Origin), as well as on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Along with the game's launch, the first update has been released. The patch fixes many bugs and is supposed to remove the problem with so-called rubber banding, that is, situations in which characters move in a jerky manner, as if they were pulled backwards by a rubber band. Thanks to the patch Battlefield 2042 also no longer crashes on Breakaway after destroying certain elements of the environment.
It is worth mentioning that the patch fixes only those problems that were detected before the start of early access, which took place a week ago. Therefore, all additional imperfections found by players in the last seven days will be removed only in future patches.
We won't have to wait long for more patches. DICE informed that two more updates will be released in the next 30 days. The first one will fix the problems discovered during the early access. The second is to bring more novelties and will probably show the direction in which changes to the gameplay and balance will go.
The game definitely needs a serious technical overhaul. Early access version left a lot to be desired in this regard, which, combined with some controversial changes resulted in low ratings from players. The average user rating on Metacritic is 2.4/10 for the PC version. The critics' average score is also dropping. Just a few days ago it was 80% for the PC release, and now it is only 74%.
